The team at Victoria Park Central were pleased to have secured a partnership with the Town of Victoria Park, as part of their Arts Season, to bring acclaimed Perth mural artist Sioux Tempestt to the centre to complete a large-scale mural on the external of the centre.

Designed to enrich lives, the Town of Victoria Park Arts Season runs during April, with over 30 events, including visual arts, installations, music and storytelling.

Sioux Tempestt, a multi-disciplinary artist, creates abstract, mural, sculptural and digital art which meaningfully contributes to its context. Her work aims to create a narrative and connection as Sioux believes art plays an intrinsic contribution to our wellbeing health, and happiness.

Young, budding artists and those who simply wanted to take part in the mural creation were invited to register for a 2-hour painting session to create the community mural. In addition to being part of the creation, participants were also taught a range of painting and aerosol spray can skills. All four sessions running over the two days were sold out within 24 hours of registration opening.

During the weekend of 29 April, Sioux Tempestt and the young artists, completed the mural along the East facing external wall of Victoria Park Central. The completed mural will now form part of the Town of Vic Park Mural walk.

As a result of the event’s success and the positive feedback, we look forward to supporting and enriching local communities in partnership with The Town of Victoria Park, on both future art seasons as well as key activations.
